Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

Youth Faith Formation

Faith Formation provides a fun, engaging faith education for Kindergarten through grade 10.

Led by Leona Stone (Primary grades) and Mary Ann Thombs (Secondary Grades), classes are normally held at SMSA school on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. starting in September, and ending in May.

This year, due to health concerns regarding the Coronavirus, classes will be held at student's homes, and the situation will be reassessed in the new year.

Family Faith Formation

Grow in faith among members of your family and greater parish!

Join this close-knit community of prayer; celebrate scripture, the commandments and sacraments in the proximity of parents and children.

Due to health concerns regarding the Coronavirus, classes are currently not being held.  We will reassess in the new year.

Meet Mrs. Stone

"My family joined St Mary's parish about 20 years ago. My husband and I have three lovely children ages 16 to 24. We've both been Catechists, and involved in Faith Formation for over 15 years.

I was blessed to have taught 2nd grade for many years. The Sacraments the children receive in those years are so close to my heart. About 3 years ago, at the end of the last session of the year, I was feeling so joyful. After Mass, while still in church, I said to my daughter ' if I had to do it all over again, I'd like do this' ( teach the Faith).  It's been three blessed years working with wonderful and faith-filled, co-workers, catechists, parents and children. Be careful what you say in church!"

Preparation for Confirmation begins with 10th grade Faith Formation.  Upon completion of 10th grade Faith Formation

or its equivalent, youth are invited to the

Immediate Preparation for Confirmation program.

Meet Miss Thombs

Secondary Educator

"I am a life-long parishioner of St. Mary's. I attended faith formation and was confirmed in the church in 2007. I was active in both the children's choir and youth ministry here growing up. Over the past 10 years, I have taught middle and high school faith formation classes. I currently work in Gloversville, NY as a Special Education High School History teacher. Two years ago, I was the interim Youth Minister, and I am looking forward to getting back into the role."
