Fr. Scott VanDerveer

St. Mary's Church is blessed to welcome Father Scott VanDerveer as our pastor.  He began on September 1, 2021, and continues to lead us on our journey to put God first, teach us how to be loving toward others, and to make disciples in our faith!

A message from Father Scott VanDerveer

Our Ministry Team

"I have always been a member of St. Mary's Parish. In the 1990's, God crooked His Finger at me and I said "Yes," and, after 5 years of formation, I was ordained a deacon. My wife Betty, and I graduated from St. Mary's Academy. I have four children and eight grandchildren. I am retired as Inventory Manager from Finch Pruyn Paper Co.
I have always been active in St. Mary's Parish ministries as Parish Council President, and served on various council committees, a Faith Formation teacher, and RCIA coordinator".

Pastoral Associate for Ministry at St. Mary's

"I’ve been a member of St. Mary’s since my husband and I moved to Glens Falls in 2010.   However, I didn’t get involved in our church until 2017 when I read two books that changed my spiritual journey: The Purpose Driven Life, by Rick Warren and The Circle Maker, by Mark Batterson.

I love being a part of our Rebuilt team and making changes to help reach the unchurched and dechurched in our community.  I’m grateful that I get serve our community by doing God’s Work."

Confirmation coordinator

"I am a life-long parishioner of Saint Mary's. I attended faith formation and was confirmed in the church in 2007. I was active in both the children's choir and youth ministry here growing up. Over the past 10 years, I have taught middle and high school faith formation classes. I currently work in Gloversville, New York as a Special Education High School History teacher. Two years ago, I was the interim Youth Minister, and I am looking forward to getting back into the role."

Volunteer Coordinator

With a parish as active as St. Mary's, Alison plays a key role in organizing volunteers for coffee hours, clean up days, small groups, etc.  She also works closely with our various ministry coordinators to make sure that they have the support and volunteers that they need for their ministries to thrive.  If you are interested in helping out at St. Mary's, Alison can help you find a good fit where you can share your gifts and talents.

Communications Director

Emily is employed part time as a multimedia specialist with the Diocese of Albany and part time here at St. Mary's.  Emily's role at St. Mary's is to make sure our parish members and the surrounding community are always up to date with the latest church news and events.  By creating the weekly bulletin, Facebook and Instagram posts, Flocknote weekly emails, and maintaining the church website, Emily will ensure that we know what is going on both locally and in the diocese.

Business and Operations Manager at St. Mary's

Gary Patton and his wife, Lisa, are residents of Glens Falls, and have two wonderful children who attend Glens Falls Schools.  Their family moved to Glens Falls in November of 2012 from Louisiana, and have been parishioners at St. Mary's Church since their move.   Gary is looking forward to helping St. Mary's move forward with its Mission and Vision through his dedicated work.

Whether it is dealing with the church buildings and operations or with running the St. Mary's and St. Alphonsus cemeteries, we are in good hands with Gary at the helm.
