Our goal is to foster and sustain an active level of SERVICE throughout our community and beyond.

Care Ministries

  • WORKS OF MERCY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE:   to serve our area's marginalized and overlooked.

  • HOMEBOUND/PASTORAL CARE:  to provide visitation, comfort services, and the Eucharist to the parish's home-bound. 

  • BEREAVEMENT:  to help coordinate funeral arrangements in the Parish with the Church Staff.

  • FOOD PANTRY:  provides a way for our Church to share God's abundance with those in need.

Weekend Experience Ministries

  • LIVESTREAM:  stream the Mass for viewing beyond the church.  

  • MUSIC:   passionately brings spiritual music to our congregation, and helps introduce love of God through song.

  • LECTOR:  enthusiastically proclaim the scripture reading during Mass.

  • COFFEE HOUR HOST:  provide coffee and baked goods to parishioners after Mass.

  • USHERS & GREETERS:  to welcome and guide visitors to our church, and to respond to the needs of attendees during Mass.

  • WELCOME DESK: joyfully serve St. Mary's by assisting with the differing needs of visitors to our church.

Church Operations Ministries

  • OFFICE VOLUNTEER:  assists the administration of the church by working in the rectory office.

  • CEMETERY OFFICE:  The Cemetery Office volunteers help with the administration and organization of both of St. Mary's cemeteries.  

  • BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS:   help  maintain the Church building and grounds, and help keep St. Mary's beautiful.

  • SANCTUARY CARE:  Members help care for and maintain the beauty and cleanliness of the church.  

  • GRANT WRITING:  assist in writing grants to obtain funds to carry out St. Mary's mission.

  • PARKING LOT:  collect money and direct parking during Civic Center events as a church fundraiser.

  • HEAVY LIFTERS:  come in when needed to carry and lift heavy items, often during seasonal decorating.

  • DECORATORS:  help seasonally decorate the sactuary.

Evangelization Ministries

  • SMALL GROUP HOST:  host, at a church site, offsite, or your home, a Small Group (4-10 people).  To discuss the given topic to enrich the faith and fellowship of the church.

  • COMMUNICATIONS:  disseminates information from all of the ministries and Pastor to the church and community utilizing various communication channels including social media, website, and more. 

  • RESPECT LIFE:  to advocate for all Life issues, especially the Right to Life from conception to natural death.   We promote the teachings of the Catholic Church on the Life Issues, and invite all to embrace God’s gift of Life.

Connecting With Faith Ministries

  • SPIRITUAL LIFE:  works to establish Bible study, prayer and discussion groups, and assist with liturgical devotions in the Parish in order to foster ongoing spiritual education and development.

  • SMALL GROUPS:  Our small groups leaders help to foster a connection between our church messages and our community.

  • R.C.I.A.: serve those who wish to join our Catholic Faith by guiding them through the process of the Rite of Christian Initiation.

Youth Engagement

  • SCHOLARSHIP: review and assess applications to distribute funds to St. Mary's Catholic students.

  • NEXT GENERATION: engage in teaching our young minds all about the Catholic Faith, and how to engage in their faith in today's society.

  • SCOUTS:  prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Thank you for joining a St. Mary's Ministry Team! 

 

St. Mary's and the Diocese of Albany is committed to providing a safe environment for everyone visiting our Parish.  As a result, we require each person serving on a Ministry Team at St. Mary's to  complete age appropriate Safety Training.

As per the Albany Diocese, we use the CMG Connect program to achieve these goals.  Many CMG Connect presentations have been scheduled for the coming months and new sessions are added regularly. Steps to Complete 
Safe Environment Training

​

  1. Click the Safe Environment button below.

  2. Fill out the "REGISTER FOR A NEW ACCOUNT."

  3. Complete the registration section.  Click the appropriate section for the Ministry Team [VOLUNTEER].  Find St. Mary's Parish of Glens Falls in the drop-down menu for Churches.

  4. After you are registered,  please complete the appropriate virtual, online training.  Ministry Team members are REQUIRED to complete Safe Environment once every 5 years.

  5. Email Alison at ahancock@stmarysglensfalls.org.  Include in the email your Full Name, as well as a completed copy of your training certificate.
